Current Economy Hits Home (literally!) with Geithner

So, you think you’re the only one with your home on the market for longer than usual these days? Well, you’re not! Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has had his home on the market for awhile according to MSNBC.com and has recently resorted to renting it out to cover (at least partially cover) his monthly obligation on the property as he heads to Washington, D.C. to report for duty.

It’s words to live by: have a back-up plan. Your Realtor can help you plan a course of action should your home not sell in the time frame you’ve allotted. Our clients are, many times, faced with tight moving deadlines because of career and family obligations. An experienced Realtor can bring to the table real information you can use to help with tough decisions. It’s never a bad idea to know what fair market rent is for your home should you opt for that if it doesn’t sell right off the bat. Occasionally, you can even find short-term renters who will agree to rent and then vacate once a property is under contract. Moral of the story being: have a backup plan.

Real estate is our world, and the collective experience of our brokerage makes us confident that we’re able to address each and every one of our buyers and sellers with an efficient approach and timely advice. Have you asked YOUR Realtor the right questions? It’s never too late. A great Realtor is nver too busy to return a client’s call and do some research on your behalf. In the current economy – while it might be a buyer’s market – there’s no reason that, as a seller, you’re left holding the short end of the stick.
