Do You Have a Home Warranty?

Strange little question – do you have a home warranty? Whether you purchased a new home or have been in the same home for years, it’s possible to get a home warranty on your home for less than you think. They run on the average of $200-$400 per year (depending on type of home and covered structures) and can save you valuable dollars when it comes to home repairs. From appliances conking-out unexpectedly to your central heating and air going on the fritz and needing repair, service calls generally have a co-pay (on the average of $25-$40, depending on the plan) and then the incident is covered based on the terms in your home warranty.

What can this mean for you? A new fridge for $40. A new heating or A/C system for the cost of a service call plus hazardous materials disposal for your old one. WOW!

A trend that’s become popular in the past five years or so, home warranties offer the advantage of lower out-of-pocket for repairs as well as fewer claims on your homeowner’s insurance. Sure, the final cost of that fridge is $40 + the annual cost of the plan, but if you have a $1400 fridge, you’re still slated to save about $1000 in the long run!

If you’d like to learn more about home warranties, feel free to give our offices a call at 970-626-3200. We have a few that we can refer you to so you can see which particular company might be right for you. Remember: every company’s plan is different and will have different service call fees and coverages. Know before you purchase and don’t be afraid to ask questions!
