This week, we’re taking a departure from the “state of the economy” and going to talk more about the State of Colorado! The gorgeous San Juan region has been home to many of us for years. However, a great part of our job is to welcome new people to the area so that they may call it “home” as well!
Whether you’re new to the area or a long-time resident, a handy list of things to do and places to see is never a bad thing to have close at hand. Springtime is upon us and there are many things to look forward to as the trees grow fuller and the days a bit longer.

Easter Egg Hunt – 2pm in Fellin Park, Ouray. Sponsored by Elks Lodge # 492. Great fun for the children – and parents enjoy watching!
Ouray Movie Club – Friday, April 17 at 6:30-9pm (Beaumont Hotel)
Ouray Movie Club offers a movie the 1st & 3rd Friday of each month (thru May) at the Tundra Dining Room at the Beaumont. There are 10 movies. Cost for each is $7.50 or you may join the Movie Club for $60 for 10 movies if bought before the 2/6 show. You can eat at Bulow’s Bistro before the show at 5pm. Information: [email protected]
Ouray County Business Expo – Saturday, April 25 from 8am – 4pm (4-H Events Center)
Save the date: April 25th, for this exciting event that will showcase our diverse local businesses and services. The cost to participate is $45 for RACC and OCRA members, $100 for non-members! This secures a 10’X10′ space for your presentation. The event will be held from 8 am-4 pm at the 4-H Event Center. Yet another benefit of being a Chamber member! The Expo will be space limited on a first-come, first-served basis. The Expo will be a jointly sponsored event with the Ouray County Resort Association (OCRA). Watch for our ad in the paper for information on how to sign up.
6th Annual Balloons and Varooms – Friday May 8, 2009 – Sunday May 10, 2009
Join us for what is deemed by many to be Western Colorado’s most scenic event!
Featuring 24 colorful hot air balloons, dozens of unique classic cars and trucks together for spectacular photo opportunities. Early morning mass balloon ascensions, dramatic sunset balloon glows and plenty of food, fun and entertainment. This event is free for spectators.
