Real Estate Trends: Best Places to Move

Forbes online recently published a story about the top places in the U.S. chosen by those moving due to corporate relocation. From area amenities to a location’s “charm” and “small town feel,” the destinations across the U.S. for the corporate executives were of no surprise. Small and mid-sized suburbs around burgeoning centers of industry are popular destinations for America’s corporate elite – but we sat down and thought for a moment. Who are our clients?

Well, they’re not the “corporate elite,” though many have been blessed with successful careers. They’re the Everyday Joes and Janes. We wanted to contribute our own list of destinations in the San Juan region and why our clients move here – and why we continue to call the region home!

  • Ouray, Colorado – Known as the Switzerland of America, this charming Victorian town is beauty incarnate. Our clients and staff have chosen Ouray for their home (or in many cases, home away from home) because of the year-round access to rock climbing, ice climbing and backcountry skiing. It’s a mere hour away from Telluride Ski Resort. It also boasts that cozy, small-town atmosphere where you can walk down Main Street and passers by know your name.
  • Ridgway, Colorado – Located between Ouray and Montrose, it offers access to a wide world of outdoor wonder for the active enthusiast as well as a smaller town feel to the larger Montrose. For those not quite ready for the small town of Ouray, it’s a happy medium as well. Still only an hour away from Telluride, Montrose has a convenient airport that can fly you to most major regional hubs for easy travel access as well. City parks, the Uncompaghre River…it all waits for Ridgway residents!
  • Montrose, Colorado – As the “doorstep of the Black Canyon,” Montrose is as industrious as this region gets while still offering front door access to the many splendors of the San Juan region. A city of just over 16,000 residents, you’ll find ever necessary amenity for family living: shopping, recreation, a quality public school system and easy access to both the Grand Junction and Montrose regional airports. There’s always something going on in Montrose and much of our staff over the years has called this multifaceted gem of  a city home at one point ot another. From Gunnison National Park to the conveniences of day to day living, we’re delighted it’s so close to our homes and thus, close to our hearts.

As always, our staff at San Juan Realty, Inc. is happy to answer any questions you might have about the San Juan Region. There’s a place on our front porch for you and your family to call home – it just might take some time to find it! Our community is diverse but or hearts close. Won’t you stop by the next time you’re in the area?
