Pending Sales Up (again) – are we recovering?

We don’t know whether it’s the rush to take advantage of the $8,000 tax credit or simply because more Americans are feeling the choke hold on the economy loosen. Whatever the reason, pending home sales are up again and at their highest level since March of 2007. While we’re busy working with clients left and right, this week we wanted to give you some tips as the year starts to wind down (is is *really* October?) to get your “house” in order.

  • Looking to buy a home? It’s a great time to get your finances in order. Make sure you have 3 years of tax returns on-hand, up-to-date bank statements and all of your financial information at the ready. Even if you’re not in the market to buy, why wait until the end of the year? Save yourself the tax time headache and get a jump start now.
  • Ready to sell your home? Go ahead and make some high value/low cost improvements. A fresh coat of paint, updated plumbing fixtures and new lighting fixtures can go miles for eye appeal with prospective buyers while not breaking the bank.
  • The weather is changing. Take inventory on your winter supplies now! Start gathering fresh supplies as they go on sale and don’t (literally) get stuck out in the cold. Clean off a shelf in the garage for your stockpiled purchases (off the ground so they don’t freeze).
